IS COCONUT OIL GOOD FOR YOU?
Updated: Oct 11, 2020
Using coconut oil on your face and body can be a bit daunting. You might think that it looks too oily or greasy to do any good. But in thinking that, you could be losing out on a number of benefits this all natural, 100% chemical-free product could offer. In honour of World Coconut Day which is celebrated on 2nd September this year, we are sharing some key reasons why coconut oil is good for your skin.
LET'S TAKE A QUICK LOOK AT WHY COCONUT OIL IS GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN:
An unadulterated alternative: As more people become concerned with skincare and beauty products containing harmful and unknown chemicals, artificial fragrances, parabens, sulphates and other additives, coconut oil is a COMPLETELY unadulterated alternative solution. With coconut oil you can be certain that what you see is what you get.
Saturated fatty acids: Coconut oil is predominantly composed of saturated fatty acids. These fatty acids offer intense smoothing and calming benefits for the skin. They work well to retain moisture in the skin cells and therefore makes a great moisturiser with zero nasties.
Vitamin E: Coconut oil is high in vitamin E. This antioxidant rich nutrient smoothens and repairs skin and promotes skin growth. This in turn helps to keep your skin looking fresh and vibrant.
Medium chain fatty acids: Lauric acid, caprylic and capric acids are some of the medium chatty fatty acids present in coconut oil. These have anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties which protect your face from daily dirt and grime, harmful bacteria and pollutants. As a result of these properties, coconut oil may provide relief from skin conditions such as eczema and dermatitis.
SO, HOW CAN YOU START USING THIS WONDER OIL YOU ASK?
Using coconut oil on your body and face can seem a bit intimidating. Remember you only need to use a little bit to enjoy the benefits.
Give it a try by experimenting with small amounts on different parts of your body. For example, you could perhaps start using it as a hand moisturizer or a night time leg moisturizer.
